  • Christmas is over back to work

As of yesterday (Monday) I am back to work again.  I am really not been in a working mood however, I guess holiday procrastination is hard to shed.  Fortunately I only need to work three days this week, as my work place is closed on both New years Eve and Day.  So I will see this week more as transitioning me back to work.

Christmas was very good.  We spent it at our home this year, just the two of us.  I spent several hours Christmas Eve calling family and friends, and M called his family and a friend on Christmas. I got a waffle iron so we had waffles for breakfast.  I also got a lot of food items (including Mango Licorice from Australia) and a rainbow hat (which I wanted) .  I also got a few things from a few friends.  To M his main presents were; a putt putt boat ( a candle powered boat) which he tried out and had fun with that morning, a pocket slide rule (he asked for one), and a book called Gonzo Gizmos (see below) which has a lot of scientific projects (which he is already reading, and I think trying to determine which project to do first).

It was raining most of the day, so our world slowly progressed from white to patchy green.  We therefore did not spend very much time outside which we may have done otherwise.  We did have lots of good food, including  roast lamb (one of my favourites),  fruit (cherries and pineapple) and various salads and sides.  In the evening we took a drive and went to see the Christmas lights.  It was a very pleasant day.  While I did miss having other people around, I would have a Christmas at home again...especially after hearing the weather reports and delays in travel.

Not much has happened in the rest of the week.  I did but some ski pants which are keeping me much warmer when outside.  On Sunday I also managed to slip on a patch of ice while trying them out .  I have since had quite a painful neck.  It is staring to improve now.

For New Years Eve, we will be going to a friends place for lunch.  My church is also supposed to have an event in the evening which I am trying to find more about.  But I am looking forward to the lunch more.  I was going to work more on the bathroom and try and get the last coat of plaster done before New year, but with my neck the way it is, it is not possible at the moment.

Mango licorice... that sounds yummy. I love mangoes. That is, I love them in smoothies, but whenever we buy them they tend to be either very firm and unripe or too squishy and gushy. But if I could have a perfectly ripe mango fresh from the tree...
