  • Random things for this week

There isn't a lot happening here at the moment, but things are going okay.  There are a few minor things.

I went swimming Friday afternoon.  I enjoyed the swim, but today one of my ears is playing up.  At least I found my googles this week.  Last week my eyes were sore and itchy after swimming, today they are fine.  May need to consider ear plugs while swimming.

I made an Aussie burger.  On the burger was beef, bacon, egg, beetroot, lettuce, tomato, cheese and condiments.  They turned out very well.  M made the beetroot or rather he pickled it last year. I love the recipe he used, it includes cardamom pods, which gives the beetroot a faint
cardamom after-taste.   It is only recently that I have started liking beetroot, I think in part due to this home made variety.

Now that we have got rid of cable we are probably watching more TV than ever.  We have found a lot of shows have online streaming or podcasts.  In particular we have found some Australia shows that we have not seen since leaving Australia. These include Gardening Australia and The New Inventors.  I am really enjoying Gardening Australia even if the gardening advice is not appropriate for where I am living now.

A colleague of M's gave us some lamb pieces.  Apparently needed to clear out his freezer for a moose, and remembered we liked lamb.  Made one good stew so far.  Lamb is very expensive here. The supermarkets generally stock the New Zealand rather than local lamb.

Have been looking for work but there really is not much available.  Did apply for one summer job with the conservation corp.  In terms of study I will not find out about acceptance (or not) into education course until the end of April.

Now I should get to the dishes before they get to me.
